About Our Program

University of South Carolina – Carolina Transition to Teaching is a residency graduate program designed for professionals that hold an undergraduate degree in a field other than education. We are seeking individuals who are interested in transitioning from their current profession into the important position of certified teacher with one of our partner school districts (Colleton, Florence 3, Marlboro, and Orangeburg) in rural South Carolina communities. During the 18-month program, Carolina Teaching Residents will be provided both professional and financial support as they are immersed in the experience of teaching while simultaneously pursuing a Master’s Degree in Education.
